Alain Le Tourneau and Pamela Minty own and operate the 40 Frames Film Institute. Their dedication to the film medium is evident in this straight forward, yet modern, live work residence. The building layout has been created directly from the projection focal length and aspect ratio of their antique, twin 16mm projectors. The house has been designed to meet the guidelines of the Passiv Haus building standard, a german building metric for ultra low energy use. This will be accomplished by using double framed, 10″ thick walls, super insulated windows and a heat recovery ventilator.
